16 Aug Connected-vehicle services may affect repair procedures
I-CAR has highlighted considerations for Nissan and INFINITI vehicles fitted with app-based connected services.
Owners may receive notifications when a vehicle is moved or operated at a repair facility, while some functions can be activated remotely. On some electric vehicles, scheduled air-conditioning or charging functions may also activate high-voltage systems even when the vehicle’s power switch appears to be off.
Why this matters for Repair Certifiers
Connected services and scheduled vehicle functions are becoming another part of repair planning. Repairers may need to consider owner communication, privacy, remote-start functions, charging timers and the vehicle manufacturer’s shutdown and low-voltage disconnection procedures before inspection or repair work begins.
