All used vehicles entering or re-entering the NZ fleet are required to go through a compliance inspection performed at an approved testing station (sometimes called a compliance centre) by a Key Service Delivery Partner (KSDP) before they can be registered for use on the road. This inspection is carried out by an Entry Certifier.
- A vehicle entering the fleet for the first time is most likely to be one that has been imported.
- Most vehicles re-entering the fleet go through the re-registration process, either due to a lapsed registration or because they were de-registered following accident damage, malicious damage, or mechanical issues.
If your vehicle requires repair certification, this means the Entry Certifier suspects that it needs (or has previously had), repairs to the vehicle’s structure, systems, or components, has referred the vehicle to a Repair Certifier for assessment, and the Repair Certifier has determined that the vehicle requires repair certification.
