16 Aug MITO updates collision repair training programmes
The Level 3 collision repair and automotive refinishing qualifications have been separated, while Level 4 now includes elective structural-repair unit standards that were previously available only at Level 5.
A new Level 5 Advanced Industry Specialist pathway has also been introduced, providing an opportunity for experienced technicians to develop more advanced technical and specialist skills.
Why this matters for Repair Certifiers
The changes should strengthen the formal training pathway for technicians undertaking collision and structural repairs. Qualifications are only one part of establishing competence, but the updated programmes may be useful when Repair Certifiers assess repairer capability, training records and Shop Profile information.
