07 Jun New Zealand inspection changes from November 2026
NZTA announced changes to light vehicle inspections, starting from 1 November 2026. The changes include altered WoF inspection frequencies for some vehicles, and WoF and CoF inspections will include checking that no warning or malfunction indicators are showing for Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) and Lane Keep Assist systems, where fitted.
NZTA will provide more details before the changes take effect, including VIRM updates, more information about ADAS, and system updates.
Why this matters for Repair Certifiers:
Although this is primarily an inspection system update, the inclusion of AEB and Lane Keep Assist warning indicators reflects the growing importance of ADAS within the wider vehicle inspection and certification system.
