Repairer Driven News recently covered Ford OnTarget guidance on parking sensor paint instructions. The article notes several specific instructions, including that already-painted sensors must not be touched up or repainted, and that paint must not extend more than 4 mm from the front edge of the sensor membrane. 

This is a good example of how something that may appear minor — such as painting a sensor or bumper component — can become safety-relevant when it affects an ADAS or driver-assistance system.

Why this matters for Repair Certifiers:
If a bumper, sensor, grille, mirror, glass, or other ADAS-related area has been repaired or refinished, it may not be enough to simply confirm that the panel looks correct. The repair may also need to be checked against the relevant OEM instructions.
