The article notes that one of the common questions asked is whether a sectioning or partial replacement procedure is available, and points repairers to I-CAR’s OEM Partial Part Replacement Search. 

This reinforces an important point: repair procedures can be highly model-specific, and they can change over time. A repair method that was not previously allowed may later be supported by a manufacturer procedure — and the reverse can also happen.

Why this matters for Repair Certifiers:
Repair Certifiers should be cautious about accepting a repair method based on previous experience, general trade practice, or “we’ve always done it this way”. The current OEM procedure for the specific vehicle should be checked wherever possible.
